Our services are free, but as an independent local charity we rely on the support of local organisations and people like you to help us to make a difference for our clients.
We are lucky enough to have two groups who regularly fundraise for us. The Stroud Citizens Advice Fundraising Group cover the Stroud and District area and the Friends of Cotswold Citizens Advice fundraise and campaign in the Cotswold and District area.
The Concert given for us by the brilliant pianist Clare Hammond and the wonderful Gloucestershire Youth Orchestra conducted by Jon Trim was a great success.
We were so glad to be able to listen to live music again and this was only the second concert given by the Youth Orchestra in two years, because of the pandemic.
Clare Hammond gave a brilliant performance of works by Dorothy Carwithin, Brahms and Medtner and received a standing ovation.
The Youth Orchestra played works by Walton, Mussorgsky, Borodin and the very first performance of a commissioned work by young composer Fraz Ireland.
The vote of thanks was given by the Patron of Stroud’s Friends who also spoke of the need for financial support for the charity, particularly in these difficult times. The total raised by the evening was £2,000 which is a wonderful boost to our funds and we thank everyone who supported us and those who worked to make the evening such a success.
Join us at the Phoenix Festival!
The Phoenix Festival is a youth and community led totally FREE TO ENTER annual festival that offers two days of music, dance and family fun in the Abbey Grounds, Cirencester. After a two year hiatus, the Festival is planned to restart this year, and as before will be held on the end August bank holiday weekend, Saturday and Sunday 27th and 28th August from 11.00am to 10.00pm. There is great live music, lots of side shows and displays, other charity tents, a fairground suitable for children, and good food and drink. See https://www.phoenix-festival.co.uk/ for details.
As usual, CASCD is planning to participate, demonstrating our commitment to the community. The Friends of Cotswold Citizens Advice will hand out leaflets and information about advice services, and will run the popular “climb the wall” competition, as well as have a second hand book stall.
It’s a fantastic experience and the Friends are looking forward to meeting lots of new people at the Phoenix Festival and telling them all about the wonderful work done by CASCD.

Who we help
Over the winter, there was a desperate need for funds to help people who had come to us with emergencies such as urgently needing energy top ups, help with travel. Both Stroud Citizens Advice Fundraising Group and Friends of Cotswold Citizens Advice donated £250 each to the fund to help families and individuals in need.
